Cleo E. Kimber, 86, of Homer passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at Henry Ford Hospital in Jackson.
A celebration of Cleo’s life will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at Anchor Baptist Church, 6020 23 Mile Road, Homer, MI 49245, with Pastor Brian Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Homer.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 16, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m.., also at Anchor Baptist Church.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Cleo was born on March 13, 1938 to Ray and Elba (Cummings) Kimber in Albion, Michigan. He proudly served in the Michigan National Guard.
May 9, 1959 he married Nancy Sue Heselschwerdt at the United Methodist Church in Homer. She preceded him in death December 12, 2019.
Cleo worked as a truck driver all of his life starting with his father and uncle at Kimber Brothers Livestock. He also worked for Rieth-Riley Construction. He later purchased Kimber Brothers Livestock business in 1973, renaming it Cleo Kimber Trucking. He retired in 2000. He later worked at Flint Trucking in Litchfield and Huffman Rubber Inc. in Homer.
He enjoyed going out to eat, watching TV, camping, square dancing, spending winters at Twin Palms Trailer Court in Florida, and driving across the Mackinaw Bridge for the annual semi-truck and trailer crossing event. He was a member of the Zephyrhills Moose Lodge and Michigan Travel Trailers Club.
Surviving are his son, Kit Kimber of Homer; his daughter, Kami (Brian) Combs of Homer; his grandchildren, Morgan and Garrett Kimber; and his brother Clarence “Corky” Kimber of Battle Creek.
In addition to his wife Nancy, he was preceded in death by his parents.
