Richard Edward Coriell, 95, of Tekonsha, passed away at home Wednesday, March 9, 2022, under the care of Oaklawn Hospice “with no aches and pains, and he was not mad at anyone”.
A celebration of Richard’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha on Monday, March 14, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 3:00- 7:00 p.m., also at the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha.
Richard was born March 25, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio to Edward and Doris (Frick) Coriell. He grew up in Branch County and attended Litchfield Schools. On April 2, 1955 he married the former Catherine Ann Bowersox at the Homer Methodist Parsonage.
Richard worked hauling cream and milk and then at the feed mills in Litchfield and Homer, and later was employed by the Calhoun Foundry in Homer, where he was president of the UAW. He also farmed, which he enjoyed very much. Richard was a wonderful father, grandfather, and a friend to those who knew him.
Richard is survived by his four loving daughters, Vicki (Ken) Brownell of Tekonsha, Debbie (Bob) Cargill of Cushing, OK, Patsy (Frank) Orns of Ceresco and Laura Russell of Tekonsha; grandchildren, Erin (Jimmy) Slone, Leroy Fisher, Chaiann (Jon) Church, David (Tanya) Wood, Corey (Crystal) Wood, Justin (Brooke) Cargill, Matthew (Cara) Cargill, Joshua Cargill, Julie (Kurt) Halder, Kristy Orns, Kimberly (Kevin) Hall, Kyle (Winter) Brownell, Jade Russell, Natasha Russell and Bruna Hamori; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Annabelle Coriell of Homer, Dorothy McClellan of Quincy, Larry (Ruby) Drinkwater of Homer and Judy Roberts of Litchfield; and brothers-in-law, Gary (Dotty) Bowersox of Sturgis and Frank Frick of Quincy and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank-you to his caretaker, Kathleen Griffith, and Nurse Debbie Healy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Elton Drinkwater, wife, Catherine (2013); daughter, LouAnn Fisher; grandsons, Eric Wood and Jason Fisher; and brother, Eugene Coriell.
