COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – While the number of COVID-19 cases has eased off, Health Officer Rebecca Burns reported to the Community Health Agency Board of Health on Thursday that they want to make sure they are getting the message out that the pandemic is not over.
She said the World Health Organization is warning nations to remain vigilant against COVID-19 as recent figures show a global rise in cases adding that this may be a signal that the Recovery phase is ending and they will be moving to their Readiness phase in anticipation of a new surge.
Burns says Branch, St. Joseph and Hillsdale Counties are at a Moderate risk of the virus spreading due to the current weekly positivity rate and rate per 100,000.
But according to Burns, the rates are considered under reported due to individuals choosing not to test or administering home tests and not reporting results.
Meanwhile, she said the demand for COVID-19 vaccination remains low and the agency is taking a break from Saturday vaccine clinics during April and May.
They will will reevaluate Saturday clinics in mid-May. Appointments can still be made at www.bhsj.org/scheduling.
