COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The renovation of the Branch Area Careers Center is nearing a conclusion after work began last summer.
The project had a base budget of $3.7 million. When the alternates were added, the project came in at $5.7 million and it’s estimated the project is about 85 percent finished.
Career and Technical Education Assistant Superintendent Randy Sowles showed photographs of the work during Wednesday’s Branch I.S.D. Board of Education meeting.
Superintendent Kris Jenkins said they had about $18,000 left in their contingency fund.
She added $13,000 worth of duct work had to be reimbursed due to a wrong drawing and a mistake by the contractor when a incorrect sized duct was put in.
The project included the installation of a new elevator as well as new classrooms, a new counseling suite and the renovation of an existing kitchen.
