Lowell G. Hayward, 90, of Walker, formerly of Litchfield and Coldwater, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2022, at Yorkshire Stonebridge Manor in Walker.
Funeral services for Lowell Hayward will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Litchfield with Pastor Brent Stille officiating. Interment will follow at Whig Center Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Litchfield.
He was born on July 8, 1931, in Gladwin to Glen and Lolita (VanPatten) Hayward. On July 11, 1950, Lowell married Virginia (Mast) and she survives.
Lowell graduated from Litchfield High School, Class of 1950. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Litchfield. Lowell loved riding snowmobiles, yard work, auto racing and tinkering in his workshop, where he would spend much of his time. He and his wife enjoyed numerous trips on their motorcycle. Later he traded his motorcycle in for a bicycle and could be seen riding it around all Coldwater.
Above all, he was a man of strong, life-long faith and enjoyed worshipping in his church and attending any event that included his children, grandchildren, or great-grandchildren. Most recently he was overjoyed with the birth of his first great-great grandchild.
In addition to his wife, Virginia, Lowell is survived one son, Craig (Mary) Hayward of Grand Rapids, by two daughters, Cheryl Gilchrist of Coldwater, Cathie Nutt of Battle Creek; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. An infant son, Dennis Alan Hayward, preceded him in death.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Calvin Hayward.
