READING, MI (WTVB) – The Union City girls defeated Homer and Reading on Wednesday night while the Union City boys finished second.
Union City won the girls meet with 60 points followed by Homer with 40 and Reading with 36.
Charger winners in the girls meet were Kyla Burdick in the 800, Amelia June in the 1600, Skyler Fraley in the 3200 and Nevada Gillons in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles. Union City won the 400 and 800 relays.
Reading won the boys meet with 74 points followed by Union City with 38 and Homer with 24.
Logan Cole of Union City set a new school record in the discus as he finished first with a distance of 148 feet, 10 inches. He broke the record previously set by Union City Superintendent Chris Katz back in 1980. Cole also won the shot put.
Other Charger winners were Hunter Sinke in the 400, Alex Hull in the pole vault and Rick Austin in the long jump.
