BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – The Union City Chargers swept a Big 8 Conference baseball doubleheader at Bronson on Tuesday as they defeated the Vikings 8-2 and 5-4.
Union City snapped a 2-2 in the third inning of the opener by scoring three runs and they never trailed after that.
First game winning pitcher Kyle Johnson struck out 10 batters in 5 2/3 innings of work.
Bronson’s Owen Kimmons had three hits while Nolan Ray had two RBI’s.
Ryan Zweng had two hits for the Chargers.
Union City was the home team in the nightcap and pulled the game out of the fire thanks to a three run rally in the last of the seventh.
Wade Hoffman had three hits including a walk off RBI single to cap the Chargers dramatic comeback. He was also credited with the win as he pitched the final two innings.
Zweng struck out nine in five innings of work.
Reagan Mayer and Logan Long both had two hits for Bronson.
