SHERIDAN TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan State Police along with other law enforcement agencies say the theft of catalytic converters is a serious issue facing Michigan citizens as they are stolen in large numbers and sold due to their high scrap metal value.
Troopers from the State Police post in Marshall are investigating the theft of a catalytic converter that took place late Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 p.m. in Calhoun County’s Sheridan Township.
They say the victim’s vehicle was parked on 25 ½ Mile road near B Drive South when the catalytic converter was removed from it.
Witnesses report seeing a white male suspect lying on the ground near the vehicle, reaching under it.
He is described as average height, thin build with short brown hair and last seen wearing a light red color shirt and blue pants.
He was picked up by a white female suspect with dark hair driving a burgundy GMC SUV.
The vehicle was last seen southbound on 25 ½ Mile Road.
Troopers urge anyone with information about this, or any other catalytic converter theft case to contact the Marshall State Police Post or Silent Observer.
