KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety officers are reminding drivers to be alert for stopped or stopping school buses.
School Bus Safety Week began on Monday, October 17, and police are on the lookout for people illegally passing school buses.
According to KDPS, this means there will be zero tolerance of this and offenders will receive a ticket.
Safety officials stress that overhead lights flashing red along with the extension of the big red stop arm means people should stop. They go onto say that people should prepare to stop when they see the overhead lights on a bus flash yellow.
And when a bus has it’s hazard lights flashing, drivers need to proceed with caution.
