LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Jobless rates declined in all Michigan regions during September 2022 according to data released on Thursday, October 27 by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget.
The report went onto say that not seasonally adjusted jobless rates receded in all 17 Michigan labor market areas for both August and September.
According to the department, Michigan labor market area unemployment rates ranged from 3.2 to 5.5 percent during September, with a median decrease of five-tenths of a percentage point.
Data also indicating that unemployment rates fell in 16 labor market areas over the year, with a median decrease of 0.8 percentage points. The exception however, the Upper Peninsula being the only area that did not have a jobless rate decrease over the year, with the unemployment rate remaining unchanged since September 2021.
Sixteen state regions displayed workforce increases over the year, with the Northwest Lower Michigan leading with a 4.4 percent increase.
136,000 payroll jobs were added over the year, marking an increase of 3.2 percent for the state. And 79 counties showed unemployment rate reductions between August and September, with jobless rates falling in 67 counties since September of 2021.
