Marion “Sig” Seigler, 100, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2022, at Masonville Place in Coldwater.
A memorial service for Marion “Sig” Seigler will be held Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Quincy United Methodist Church with Pastor Rachel Labram officiating. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Private family interment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
He was born on February 18, 1922 in Fillmore, CA to Jack and Myrtle (Nichols) Seigler.
He and his twin sister, Midge had six half brothers and sisters. All siblings have passed except his youngest brother, Jack Jr.
He married his wife, Joyce Hermance on February 20, 1944, and they were married 77 years before her passing in 2021.
Sig was a WWII veteran, he met his bride to be in Detroit while training for airplane engine repair. After the war, they ended up in Quincy where Sig worked for the Branch County Intermediate School Distict. He retired in 1984 and they became snow birds spending the next 30+ years in Riverview, FL. They moved to Masonville Place in 2018 due to health issues.
Marion was passionate about shuffling and won an open singles title at the age of 80. He was highly spoken of by his fellow competitors.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce; and daughter, Sara Danette Smoker.
He is survived by his son, Jarret (Tresa) Seigler; son in law, Ken Smoker; grandchildren, Kent Wyatt, Kaprice (Scott) McFarland; and great grandchildren, Alexis Wolfinger, Brady McFarland and Drew King.
Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
