Ann Patricia Marchant, 81, of Quincy passed away peacefully Saturday, January 7, 2023 at her home.
In following her wishes burial has taken place at Oak Grove Cemetery and no formal services are planned.
The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Ann was born while a WWII air raid was taking place in Bristol, England to Glanmore and Jean (Henderson) Jenkins. Her parents divorced when she was 2 ½. Jean remarried an American soldier and they followed him to Germany.
In 1947 Ann arrived at Ellis Island with her mother and was admitted to the United States. They later became naturalized citizens. Ann proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
While in the Air Force she met and married Hayden Snow. They had two sons before the marriage ended in divorce. June 2, 1973 she married the love of her life, Thomas Marchant in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on December 2, 2018.
Ann worked at the Branch County Court House for 30 plus years in many capacities retiring in 1994. Ann was named the first female Chairperson of the Branch County Board of Commissioners. She served 3 consecutive terms on the board, winning her first term by four votes.
After her 3rd term finished, she returned to the District Court working for Magistrate Betty Walkup and Judge David Coyle. After retirement, she continued on as a helper for 15 years in the court house.
Ann is survived by her children Bruce (Susan) Snow and Scott (Jeanne) Snow all of Texas; her siblings Malcolm (Victoria) Marson of Coldwater, Stephen (Nancy) Marson of Quincy, and Laura “Lolly” (Jeffrey Bleed) Mashinter of Rockford, IL; her grandchildren Brittany (Robert) Conwill, Bruce (Lindsey) Snow Jr., and Douglas (Elizabeth) Walters with several great grandchildren; her nephews Bryan (Lacey), Erik (Christina), and Chad (Erin) Mashinter, Joshua (Lindsey) Marson, Rob (Lynda) Rogers, and Adam Rogers; her nieces Autumn (Chris) Rauch, Stacy (Brian) Kudary, Jennifer (Dale) Reed, Jessica (Justin) Hanch, Kylee (John) Motz, and Katie (Jeremy) Burch; and her cousin Guy Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 45 years, Thomas Marchant.
