BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater split with Hastings while Quincy was swept by Jonesville in bowling matches on Tuesday.
The Coldwater varsity boys defeated the Saxons 23 to 7.
Coldwater won both regular games 844-767 and 733-683, taking totals 1577-1450. They split the Bakers games 145-139, losing the 2nd game 159-150, losing totals 297 to 295.
Coldwater was led by Brady Hawver with a 184, Vinnie Beekman a 178 and Kristian Yearling a 177.
The Coldwater varsity girls suffered their first loss of the season as they were beaten by the Saxons 20 to 10.
Coldwater bowled without three of their starters who are in the school musical this week. 3 JV bowlers were called up.
Coldwater lost both regular games 672 to 791, 716 to 731, losing totals 1522 to 1388, they split the Baker games, losing game one 162 to 178, winning game two 185 to 116, taking totals 347 to 294.
The girls were led by Violet Waltke with a 168 and Lily Cook a 166.
Both JV squads won their matches.
The Cardinals will travel to Marshall on Thursday to face the Redhawks.
Quincy traveled to L&J Lanes to take on the Comets but fell short in both boys and girls action.
Jonesville boys came out early taking baker play by just 30 pins, 342-372. In singles action two Orioles scored in game one with Tyler Short throwing 202 and Grant Wright a 208. Game two Quincy mustard 2.5 points with Draven Baker hitting 197, Brady Harper 228, and Maverick Walp 205. Wright was edged by a single mark in game two throwing a 223 for his first career 400+ series.
In Varsity girls action the Lady O’s dropped all 10 in baker play 275-315. In singles action Madison Wineland (166) and Jenica Kaser (191) scored for the Os. In game two, Kaser continued to roll with a 214. Jonesville went on to win 27-3.
