KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — As the night wears on, more than 600 Consumers Energy crews are continuing their push for full restoration of power by midnight Monday, but as of 6:20 p.m. more than 79,000 customers across the state still remain in the dark.
However the numbers are looking up for those in Southwest Michigan.
In some counties in the region, pretty much a handful of people remaining without power: 9 in Allegan County, 48 in Barry County, and 40 for St. Joseph County.
Those numbers go up a bit for Calhoun County with just over 400 customers still without service. And in Kalamazoo County, nearly 1,700 are still without power.
But the numbers dramatically increase for Kent County, with more than 11,000 remaining without service along with Jackson County, also around 11,000.
Showing all clear on the radar according to Consumers Energy, are both Berrien and Van Buren Counties with all customers restored.
