HANOVER, MI (WTVB) – In what was supposed to be Quincy varsity softballs home opener, changed from being canceled due to poor field conditions to jumping on the bus with the J.V. and traveling to Hanover-Horton, the J.V. and Varsity softball teams were each able to get a game in on Tuesday.
The Varsity Orioles lost 15-4 after jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Missed opportunities on defense made for long innings out on the field and the Comets took full advantage.
Payton Gross and Danika Skirka combined to pitch four innings while giving up five earned runs on 12 hits.
The Orioles managed just five hits. They were led by Payton Gross who went 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI’s.
McKynna Connin walked, singled and drove in a run. Kaylee Modert added a single. Kailey Allman, Deziray Skirka, and Makiya Feltner all reached base by walk.
Quincy hopes to rebound at home Thursday against Clinton.
