CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles swept a Big 8 Conference doubleheader at Concord on Thursday night as they defeated the Concord Yellow Jackets by scores of 5-0 and 5-4 in eight innings.
Quincy winning pitcher Brady Mescher tossed a five hit shutout in the opener. Brennen Allman had two of the nine Quincy hits.
Mescher helped his own cause with an RBI double. Mickey Connin also doubled Brody Fillmore recorded his first hit of the year with a single in the fourth inning.
The Orioles won game 2 as Ryan Kempter’s ground ball chased home Connin with two outs in the eighth inning with the winning run.
Kempter entered the game in the second inning and threw four innings of scoreless ball. He was relieved by Allman who earned the win with three shutout innings.
The Orioles had just three hits in the game.
With the wins the O’s move to 4-2 in Big 8 play and 8-3 overall.
