MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – Quincy’s Sam Sawyer qualified for the MHSAA Boys Golf Division Three finals as a individual for the second straight year with a round of 84 during the Regional meet on Wednesday at the Medalist in Marshall.
In the team standings, Quincy was fourth with a score of 372 while Union City was eighth with a 402. Bronson did not have enough golfers for a team score.
Quincy missed qualifying as a team for the MHSAA State Finals by eight shots as Hillsdale got the third and final transfer spot with a score of 364. Dowagiac, Olivet and Hillsdale were the top three finishers and punched their tickets to the State Finals.
Sawyer was third in the individual standings with his score of 84. He finished two shots behind Olivet’s Dawson Redfield who fired a 82 to earn Medalist honors.
Quincy’s Dave Milliman was 14th with a 90. Chase Walters carded a 97 which was good for 30th.
Logan Mears had the low score for Union City with a 95 as he finished 25th. Bronson was paced by Nick Cranson with a 103.
