UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – For the second straight year, there will be an event honoring the memory and legacy of Landen Risner.
Risner died at the age of 13 in April of 2021 nearly two weeks after he was struck on his bike in the area of Ralston and Arney Roads by a hit-and-driver who was later sent to prison.
“Landen’s Legacy Ride” will take place on Saturday, June 10 starting at 11:00 a.m.. It will start at Robbins Auto in Union City.
The route for bikes and golf carts will be three-and-a-half miles while the walking route will be about two miles.
The Union City Police and Fire Departments will provide escorts.
Organizer Tony Smith says the money raised will go towards a scholarship that will be named in honor of Risner.
T-shirts in support of Risner will also be available. All bicycle riders must wear helmets for safety.
The ride will also honor those who have been killed or injured while cycling on public roads in order to bring awareness that everybody must share the road.
