COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A veteran member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Office is retiring after 23 years of service.
Friends, family and co-workers gathered on Monday to celebrate the retirement of Sgt. Robin Maggart.
She started with the Sheriff’s Office in 2000 as a Corrections Officer.
Maggart was later promoted to Shift Sergeant and was assigned the responsibilities of Command Sergeant for the past two years.
She helped in the effort to get a new county jail when she appeared in a 2018 video. Maggart pointed out the leaks and broken locks in the former nursing home facility. She said at one point that 14 female inmates in one cell had to share one toilet which she called disgusting.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a post on their Facebook page, “Her time here is defined by her professionalism, her ability to earn the respect of the inmates, her ability to work with employees, departments, offices, agencies, or anyone who needed to interact with the Sheriff’s Office.”
Maggart’s last day of work was last week and her official retirement date is August 1, 2023.
