BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings lost a tough defensive battle at Petersburg Summerfield on Friday afternoon as the Vikings dropped a 9-8 decision in a game that spanned almost 24 hours.
The game started Thursday night but a transformer blew just before kick off which meant there was no power at the field.
The first half was played but with no power and no lights, the two teams agreed to resume the game Friday afternoon.
Bronson trailed 6-0 at halftime when the game was suspended.
They trailed 9-0 in the fourth quarter when Aiden Whittaker ran for a 45 yard touchdown. Seth Withington tacked on the two point conversion.
The Vikings hopes for a comeback victory fell short as they could not score on their final three possessions. Bronson’s record is 1-1.

Quincy won the Victory Bell for the first time since 2016 when they defeated Reading 18-12. Brennen Allman threw touchdown passes of 37 yards to Ryan Kempter and seven yards to Noah Pearson. The other Quincy touchdown came on a two yard run by Ethan Copas.
Union City rolled over Springport 41-0 as the Chargers improved to 2-0. The Chargers scored in all three phases of the game. Caden Hughes scored a touchdown on a blocked punt. Aiden Decker scored on a 32-yard interception return. Riley Laird and Eli Payne both had rushing touchdowns. Payne also had touchdown passes of 43-yards to Rick Austin and 15-yards to Laird.
