COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity soccer team closed out the regular season with a 1-1 draw at home with Mattawan Saturday afternoon.
Niko Downs put the Cardinals on the board with 27:00 to play in the first half, assisted by Ezaldeen Ahmed.
Mattawan got their lone goal with 31:29 to play in the second half off a corner kick.
Franky Ramos made four saves in goal, as Mattawan outshot Coldwater 9-8.
The Cardinals finish the regular season at 11-6-2 after finishing as co-champions in the Interstate 8 Conference. They will open post season play Wednesday, playing a district quarterfinal game at St. Joseph.

The Coldwater junior varsity team lost to Mattawan 3-0 Saturday, to close out their season at 9-4-2.
