COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – As Branch County Commissioners continue to consider how the county’s share of American Rescue Plan funds will be distributed, they heard four presentations last Thursday during their work session.
Jane Sebatis spoke on behalf of Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility and Rehabilitation as they have requested $410,000 for two capital projects.
Branch County Community Foundation Director Erica Hemminger is requesting $100,000 for talent retention and their reverse scholarship fund.
Branch County Fair Director Bryan Shirk is requesting one million dollars of the ARPA funds to make renovations and upgrades to the Dearth Center. He pointed out the COVID-19 pandemic led to the cancellation of the 2020 fair and restrictions that prevented the Dearth Center from hosting large groups.
Corey Wischmeyer from the 410 Marketplace is requesting $3-point-7 million of ARPA money as they want to partner with the Branch Area Career Center to work with their Food Service, Ag and Business Management Programs in order to build a more futuristic food kitchen.
The Commissioners are scheduled to hear more requests during their work session on Thursday.
