GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinal basketball teams went 1-1 Thursday at the Cornerstone High School Holiday Tournament, a two-week event at Mol Arena on the Cornerstone University campus.
The Lady Cards scored the first seven points of their game against Grand Rapids Northview, led 30-19 at the half, and held off the Wildcats in the second half to post a 51-41 win in the Girls Classic division and improve to 6-1.
Elli Anderson led Coldwater with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and a block, while Coley Burkhardt and Mya Porter had 8 points apiece. Burkhardt added 7 rebounds and 3 assists, and Porter had 4 boards. Elli Foley had 7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals.
The Cardinals will square off against Forest Hills Central Saturday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. In Thursday’s other Girls Classic division game, Forest Hills Central lost to Hudsonville 63-22.

Meanwhile, Coldwater hung with winless Jenison for the first three quarters of their Boys Silver Division game, trailing 26-25 at halftime and 40-37 after three. But the Wildcats outscored the Cardinals 17-7 in the final stanza to earn the 57-44 win, their first of the season.
Jackson Reilly had a team-high 15 points off the bench, while Niko Downs had 10 points, 3 assists, and 3 steals. Ayden Dirschell and Zach Coffing had 7 points apiece; Dirschell added 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals, while Coffing had 7 boards.
Coldwater drops to 2-6 on the season. They will take on Otsego in the Boys Silver Division consolation game Saturday at 6 p.m., after Otsego dropped a 66-23 decision to Byron Center.
