COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Normally, the annual Branch County United Way Power of the Purse fundraising event honors two local women as the Women of the Year.
But with this being the tenth anniversary of empowering and celebrating women, organizers have announced that 10 local women will be honored.
The 10 women being honored during their lunch on March 2 are Amy Galliers, Hannah Musgrove, Jennifer Poe, Laura Maynard, Shana Grife, Mashaun Schabloski, Missy Lafferty, Nancy Sprow, Kimberly Hatzinikolis and Vanessa Crandall.
While the dinner portion of Power of the Purse sold out weeks ago, tickets are still available for lunch.
The 2023 event raised $67,500 for the Dolly Parton Imagination Library which supplies free books to area children from birth to age five.
Numerous local businesses get involved as sponsors or have their employees serve as volunteers. Only women are allowed to attend the event.
