Gladys M. Thompson, 89, of Coldwater passed away Monday, August 19, 2024 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Drew Foster from Hope Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, August 23, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Gladys was born May 12, 1935, in Trenton, MI to Willis & Gladys (Moore) Swinford. She married George M. Thompson on December 15, 1951.
Gladys was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She owned and operated Thompson Construction, working alongside her husband, for many years.
Gladys enjoyed flower arranging, cooking, shopping, fishing, singing and rock collecting, even building a fireplace in her home with rocks from her collection. Gladys and George loved to travel, spending time between their homes in Marco Island, FL and Traverse City, MI. More than anything, Gladys always put her family first and will be deeply missed by all.
Gladys is survived by her husband George; her children Ralph (Marsha) Thompson, Michael Thompson, Shelly (Paul) Monks, all of Coldwater, Amy (Beth Sander) Thompson of Dayton, OH; her grandchildren Stacy (Dan) Ward, Jamie (Trey) Clinard, Kelly Thompson, Paul Monks III, Samuel Monks, Linzy Monks, Sam Sander, Jillian Sander and Jacob Sander; her great grandchildren Emmalynn, Kelsie, Jenna, Kenlee, Katie, Sarah and her beloved cat Sunny.
She was preceded in death by both parents.
Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Branch County.
