Gloria J. Draper, 83, of Bronson, MI went to be with her Lord and savior March 1, 2024 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital surrounded by her family.
A service will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bronson officiated by pastor Tim Rowland.
A visitation will be held prior to the service from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Bronson. Interment will follow at Matteson Cemetery.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Gloria was born January 21, 1941, to Robert and Lillian (Sampson) Metzner in Kenosha, WI. She lived the first part of her life in Melvindale, MI, where she met and married George M. Draper on July 18, 1959. They relocated to Bronson, MI in 1964 where she remained for the rest of her years. George preceded Gloria in death on July 2, 2012.
Gloria was a homemaker and caregiver to many. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bronson, where she was baptized in 1971. Gloria was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She gave her time helping at the church when she was physically able. She was known as “Grandma” by many of the children she cared for at the church.
She loved her family, her church family, her friends, and all those she came to know. Gloria was loved by everyone who met her. She loved all sports, but her favorite was the Detroit Tigers.
Gloria was best known by family and friends as you entered her house asking, “Are you hungry, can I get you something to eat.”
Gloria is survived by her children George (Kari) Draper of Bluffton, IN, Kathy (Homer) Slone of Bronson, Debbie (Rick) Kingsbury of Bronson, and David (Melissa) Draper of Hot Springs, AR; her sister Sandra (Troy) Carner of Odessa, TX; her 18 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and her best friend Ruth Fields of Cedar Springs, MI.
In addition to her husband, Gloria was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Lillian Metzner, brother Bob Metzner, Sister Sharon May, and Grandson Alan Wheaton.
In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be sent to First Baptist Church.
