COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School Class of 2024 spent Tuesday morning, their last as high school students, inside the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium for the annual Senior Convocation program.
During the assembly, it was announced that 22 students were named Senior Scholars. The recognition is earned based on a student’s grade point average and their score on a college entrance exam like the SAT. This year’s Senior Scholars are:

- Catalina Cardenas
- Morgan Dancer
- Charlie Gruner
- Rayce Johnson
- Bayan Kassas
- Samuel Larr
- Caroline Miller
- Braeh Mohammed
- Chayse Moore
- Rokeyeh Munassar
- Cooper Nelson
- Eric Rucker
- Mackenzie Scheid
- Hannah Stevens
- Ian Stough
- Maya Walinski
- Lucas Wischmeyer
In a departure from previous years, the winner of the John Vance Award was announced during Convocation, with Jaelah Sloan receiving the honor.
The top students in each academic department were also announced:
- Science: Eric Rucker
- English: Sharefa Aboali
- Social Studies: Eric Rucker
- Math: Eric Rucker
- Spanish: Kimberli Rivera-Tovar
- ELL: Rawan Mohammed
- Choir: Zoe Little
- Band (announced during their May 15 concert)
- Keller Award: Madison DeLong
- Holcomb Award: Lydia Villa
- John Phillip Sousa Award: Eric Rucker
- Art: Mya Elkins
Eric Rucker was also recognized for being one of 15,000 finalists in this year’s National Merit Scholarship competition.

After the Convocation program, seniors were given a send-off by students in the other district buildings and took part in the traditional Swing Out walk through downtown Coldwater.
Coldwater’s graduation ceremonies will take place Sunday, May 19, at 5:00 p.m. at Cardinal Field.
