COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There were three items on Tuesday’s Branch County Board of Commissioners meeting agenda that dealt with local waterways.
Commissioners approved a new agreement with the Lake George Regional Sewer District after the old one recently expired. The Board of Public Works has also approved it. The resolution approved by Commissioners allows Drain Commissioner Michael Hard to sign the agreement.
Commissioners also approved a resolution concerning the Black Hawk Dam. Hard was told by residents during a recent meeting to look into rebuilding the dam. Exploring those options will exceed the $10,000 allowed annually for lake level maintenance. Commissioners approved a resolution that allows Hard to exceed the $10,000 threshold.
Hard also presented a resolution that sets the district for the Coldwater Lake chain. The resolution was needed because when the court order was done to set the lake level, this is typically when the district is set. In order to accomplish this, it will require an engineering study and a court case to be started which will exceed the $10,000 annual maintenance allotment to maintain the lake levels.
