UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – Firefighters from five departments had to be called in Saturday night to battle a house fire in Union City.
The Union City Fire Department responded to the Andrew and Sarah Stamp residence in 300 block of Ellen Street at 8:49 p.m..
The home and a garage with two vehicles inside were destroyed. It’s believed the fire started outside of the residence.
A Union City firefighter was transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for evaluation after battling the blaze.
Fire officials say three pets, a dog and two cats, passed away in the fire. No one was home at the time the fire broke out and no residents were injured.
Union City firefighters were assisted by fire departments from Burlington, Tekonsha, Sherwood and Athens.
Assistance was also provided by LifeCare Ambulance, the Branch County Victim’s Service Unit, Union City Police, the Union City Department of Public Works and Union City Electric.
The fire remains under investigation by the Union City Police and Fire Departments.
