COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Main Street Program has launched a survey seeking community input on the U.S. 12 corridor.
It’s hoped the survey results will help influence future projects. It will be available on line until June 24 at www.downtowncoldwater.com.
Those who take the survey will be asked which activities and amenities do they enjoy downtown. Respondents will also be asked how they would improve the feeling of safety or make it more comfortable to walk or bike.
Main Street Director Audrey Tappenden told the Coldwater City Council last Tuesday night the survey is being conducted after a recent project determined there are a large amount of visitors to the downtown area.
Coldwater Main Street Design Committee Chair Dean Walrack says, “More than 185,000 people make over 1.3 million trips to Downtown Coldwater
each year, but still Downtown Coldwater is more than a tourist attraction or a
shopping center; a number of people call it their home, and over 1/3 of the City’s
residents reside within a 10-minute walk of the Downtown. We want to know
how we can make spending time Downtown safer, more livable, and more
enjoyable for ourselves, our neighbors, and our visitors.”
An optional & educational walking and strolling tour is planned for June 12 at 5:30 p.m.. Those wanting to take part are asked to meet outside the Tibbits Opera House.
