Patrick Edwin Mate, 71, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, July 12, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.
There will be no services or calling hours at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Eagle Funeral Home-George White Chapel in Quincy.
He was born May 10, 1953 in Billings, Montana to Robert and Helen (Watkins) Mate. He married Earlean McVicker on November 4, 1978, and she survives.
Patrick graduated from Coldwater High School and went to work at Holbrook Patterson shortly after. He was later employed at Acorn Products and eventually retired from Wojan Window and Door in Coldwater.
Patrick was a sports enthusiast who loved to golf and play softball. He also had a passion for fantasy sports. Patrick’s four legged companions also held a special place in his heart. His loyal dog, Rocky, and his beloved cat, Sam were always near his side. He also enjoyed his “grand pups,” as he called them, Jackson and Lucy.
Most of all, he was a devoted family man whose greatest joy came from spending time with his grandsons, Bryson and Koltin.
Surviving besides his wife, Earlean is two children, Jason Mate and Nikki Mate, both of Coldwater; grandsons, Bryson Mate and Koltin Herman; brother, Robert “Mike” (Anne) Mate; brother-in-law, Steve Wolfinger; sister-in-law, Ginnell Tingle; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Tingle; and sister, Barb Patterson.
