Harold Wiescholek, 93, of Burlington Township, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Villa at Winston Court in Marshall, Michigan, surrounded by his family.
A celebration of Harold’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024 at Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation, 1276 Tate Trail, Union City, MI, 49094 with Pastor Jon Wallace of the Burlington Church of God officiating. Private interment will take place at Burlington Township Cemetery.
Visitation will take place from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024, also at the Lighthouse in Union City.
Harold was born July 3, 1931 to Fred and Alma (Laeffler) Wiescholek in Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to Burlington Township in 1945 to the farm where he lived the rest of his life. He graduated from Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1949.
September 10, 1960, he married Ruby Thurston at the Burlington Church of God. Together, they shared 63 wonderful years of marriage.
Harold worked at the Eaton Corporation for nine years before going to Kellogg’s, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
Harold and Ruby spent 15 winters in Florida and traveled to Hawaii and twice to Europe. He enjoyed traveling, camping, golfing, dancing, polka music festivals, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Harold was an easy going guy who lived a good life and was always with Ruby everywhere he went.
He was a member of the Kellogg 25 year Club and served several years on the Burlington Township Fire Department and the Tekonsha School Board.
Surviving are his wife Ruby Wiescholek of Burlington; his sons Gary (Rhonda) Wiescholek of Union City, William (Marianne) Wiescholek of Burlington, Robert (Sheryl) Wiescholek of Kalamazoo; his grandchildren, William and John (Christine) Waltz, Chyene (Kristin) Wiescholek, Dylan (Cynthia), Sawyer and Molly Wiescholek; and his great-grandchildren, Alexis, Brock, Desiree, Penelope, Sophie, Luke, and several nieces and nephews.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, LaShelle Yoder, his grandsons, Tanner Wiescholek and Chayton Wiescholek, and his two sisters, Elfrieda Weller and Rita Funk.
