COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Flint man was arraigned Wednesday in Branch County District Court in connection with an alleged scam to steal lottery tickets from a Union City store back in April.
23-year-old Amir Brown has been charged with first degree retail fraud and using a computer to commit a crime following an investigation by the Union City Police Department.
Branch County Prosecutors also filed a third offense habitual offender sentencing enhancer.
According to Branch County court documents, Brown was one of two men involved in the alleged scam in which a card was used to steal over $3,700 in lottery tickets.

The lottery tickets were then entered into a Michigan Lottery account through a mobile app that belonged to Brown who was on federal probation at the time of the alleged crime.
The whole incident was captured on surveillance video.
A not guilty plea was entered on behalf of Brown during the arraignment and bond was set at $5,000. He is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing on August 22 and a preliminary exam on August 29.
