Larry Dee Pothoof Sr., 84, of Quincy passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
In keeping with Larry’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services have been planned at this time.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation.
Larry was born July 5, 1940 in Coldwater, Michigan, to Roland and Beulah (Hawley) Pothoof. He lived in the Coldwater area his whole life. He married Carolyn Skalmusky in October of 1963 and they had three sons together. That marriage would end in divorce. He would later marry Sandra Hulbert on December 6, 2002.
Larry served in the Army National Guard for 7 years. During that time he was deployed for the Palm Sunday tornadoes and the Detroit riots. He worked in the trucking industry for most of his life, mainly for Worden Bros.
Larry coached his sons in wrestling and baseball. He has also been the treasurer of the Coldwater Little League. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Bud Pothoof of Coldwater, Brett (Jennifer) Pothoof of Holland; step-children, Christin (Kendrick) Kelly of Eros, Louisiana, and Patrick (Christina) Daniels of Quincy; grandchildren Tyler, Justin, Jayden, Ryan, and Brenna; and three great-grandchildren.
His son, Greg Pothoof, preceded him in death.
