Marvel was born on July 20, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio to Clifford and Norma (Fisher) Schroeder. She graduated from DeVilbiss High School and attended the University of Toledo, where she received a degree in business.
Marvel had three children from her marriage to Jim Meister: Scott Meister, Dean Meister, and Lynnette (Meister) Werning.
Marvel turned 90 on July 20, 2024. She observed that milestone from April through July with her children and grandson and celebrated her birthday with a fabulous lunch on the Manatee River.
Marvel lived a full life and enjoyed many special vacations with friends and family. She had a lengthy career at the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities, retiring in 2000. Rose Lake in Coldwater, Michigan was her second home starting in junior high and continuing for 20 summers after retirement. Over her life, she lived in Toledo, Ohio, Fort Knox, Kentucky, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and Bradenton, Florida. Marvel was a water person to the core and was usually found floating around Rose Lake or a pool in the summers reading a book. She was an avid reader with a sharp funny sense of humor that she instilled in her children.
Marvel was preceded in death by her father, Clifford Shroeder; bonus father, Robert Thone; and mother, Norma Thone. Marvel is survived by her children, Scott Meister, Dean Meister and his wife Stephanie (Geimer) Meister, and Lynnette (Meister) Werning and her husband David; her grandson Luke Meister; treasured cousins, a niece, and her nephews.
