OKEMOS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals were stopped just short of the goal line as time expired Friday night as they were beaten by the Okemos Wolves 21-14.
The game was tied 7-7 at halftime. The only Coldwater touchdown in the first half came on a six yard pass from Dracyn Foster to Dayton Ennis.
The Wolves scored twice in the second half to take a 21-7 lead but the Cardinals got it back to a one possession game on a seven yard touchdown scamper by Foster with 2:12 remaining.
An Okemos fumble gave Coldwater one final chance to tie the game but the Cardinals were denied as the clock ran out.
Okemos had a 309-250 edge in total yards. Foster was 11 of 23 in the air for 147 yards.
Kendall Austin had nine rushes for 47 yards while Drew Ennis had eight carries for 35 yards. Evan Lewis had four receptions for 67 yards.
Coldwater is now 3-4. The Cardinals get back into Interstate 8 action next Friday at Hastings.
