STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys and girls cross country teams ran at the 60th annual Sturgis Kiwanis Invitational on Saturday.
The boys varsity finished sixth overall while the girls finished ninth overall and fifth in the D1/D2 race.
The girls were led by three medalists. Gwen Eby finished 10th overall and seventh in the division with a time of 20:58. Annika Johnson finished 11th in the division with a time of 21:53. Miyah Moore earned her first medal of the season coming in 25th in the division with a time of 24:17. Rounding out the scorers for Coldwater was Elizabeth Torres-Ojeda with a 26:37 (67th place) and Norah VanWagner with a 34:28 (77th place).
The boys were lead by Drew Vanderpuyl with a time of 17:34 finishing 15th overall and 11th in the division earning the only medal for the boys. Also scoring for the varsity team was Aiden Parker in 41st (18:44), Sebastian Hernandez 42nd (18:44), Luke Aerts 45th (18:51) and Parker Hetrick 75th (20:26).
In the JV race, Gabe Noguez earned a medal finishing 14th place with a time of 20:46.
Annika Johnson, Miyah Moore, Drew Vanderpuyl, Braylon Wood, Logan Decker and Angel Brito-Salto all ran a PR on the day.
The team heads to Hastings on Thursday for the Interstate 8 Championship.
