ST. JOSEPH, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Republican and former Congressman Fred Upton is endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for President, calling Republican nominee former President Trump “totally unhinged.”
Upton chose not to run in 2022 after his district was redrawn and he would have had a primary battle against fellow Republican Congressman Bill Huizenga.
He does not believe his backing of Harris will hurt Huizenga or Tim Walberg, who now represents his old district.
Upton says Huizenga has an 11-point lead over Jessica Swartz and Walberg is also safe to win reelection.
Upton also voted to impeach Trump and says the former President has “ignored the advice of many senior, respected Republicans to stay on the issues.”
Upton spoke Wednesday with Harris’ running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, with whom he served in the U.S. House, and says the Democrats want to get things done and do so on a bipartisan basis.”
