BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – The Quincy Orioles struggled to get things going on the offensive end all night as they lost a Big 8 Conference boys basketball game at Concord 62-42 on Tuesday night.
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to a 13-5 lead after the first quarter. They led 27-15 at the half and 48-28 after three quarters.
Alex Dunn led the Orioles with 11 points while Clayton Benson and Ryan Kempter each scored seven points. Quincy is now 6-8 overall and 3-6 in the Big 8.
The J.V. Oriole squad is now 13-1 after they won at Concord 45-35. Carson Haylett had 18 points and 12 rebounds while Garrett Haylett had 12 points.
The Union City Chargers knocked Springport out of a first place tie in the Big 8 as they defeated the Spartans 47-40 at McNett Fieldhouse. The Chargers are now 10-5 overall and 6-3 in the conference. They are two games back of first place Stockbridge.
The Bronson Vikings snapped a six game losing streak with a 75-55 win at Reading. The Vikings are now 7-8 overall and 4-5 in the Big 8.
Tekonsha was beaten by Pittsford 52-11.
In girls basketball on Tuesday night, Union City lost at Battle Creek Pennfield 42-22 while Edwardsburg defeated Quincy 65-38. The Chargers dropped to 4-9 while the Orioles are now 6-5.
Tekonsha lost to Battle Creek St. Philip 36-30.
