Frederick W. “Fred” Doolittle, 83, of Tekonsha passed away Friday, February 7, 2025 at Drews Place in Coldwater surrounded by his family.
A celebration of Fred’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Tekonsha, 914 N. Main Street, Tekonsha, MI, with Pastor Brian Perry officiating. Cremation will follow and interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha at a later date.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m., also at the church.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Fred was born November 23, 1941 to Frederick and Lois (Cook) Doolittle in Tekonsha. He graduated from Tekonsha High School with the Class of 1959. June 10, 1961 he married Harriet McClain at the First Baptist Church in Tekonsha.
Fred worked at Wolverine Engraving in Tekonsha, Coldwater Service in Coldwater, and Marking Machine in Tekonsha, from which he retired in 2005.
For Fred there were only two seasons, hunting season and fishing season. He had a great love for the outdoors. He also enjoyed cutting wood, gardening, and in his younger years, spending time at the Doolittle Deer Camp at O’Neil Lake in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he made many great memory’s with his family and friends. Spending time with his family is what Fred cherished the most.
Surviving Fred are his wife, Harriet Doolittle of Tekonsha; his daughter, Cheryl (Scott) Kilyanek of Union City; his son, Fred (Lorri) Doolittle III of Eaton Rapids; his grandchildren, Courtney Kilyanek, Ashley (Jake Hall) Kilyanek, Averi (Caleb) Brinson, and Austin (Lois) Doolittle; his great-grandchildren, Christian York, Joseph York, Randy York, Dominic Hoyt, and Michael Hall; his brother David (Mary) Doolittle of Tekonsha; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Lois Doolittle; his step-father Wesley Doolittle; his sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Ralph Jepson, and his beloved cat Fuzzy.
