The family is being care for by the Farrand Funeral Home.
Jim was born August 5, 1936, son of the late Henry Kenneth and Mary Ursula Fowler.
In 1956 he married Shirley Hollister, and they had three children, Karen (Dan Czajkowski) Smith, Gregory (Jenny) Fowler and Kristina (Doug) Sobeski. That marriage ended in divorce and on September 10, 1966, he married Dorothy Burnworth. She preceded him in death on September 13 ,2002.
Jim worked on the farm milking cows and growing crops in his early life. He later went on to work in road construction, selling seed corn and managed the Bronson Prairie River Country Club.
Jim’s greatest joy was being around his grandchildren and great grandchildren watching them just play or being at a sporting event. Jim never met a stranger and would spend hours traveling around the countryside in his side by side visiting neighbors and friends. Jim loved to golf, watch Tiger baseball and was a Michigan State Spartan fan. He traveled to Florida in the winters with his brother Donald for many years and they enjoyed going to Tiger spring training games and going out to eat at the many restaurants in Lakeland.
Jim is survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Haley and Jordon Houtz, Theodore and Lincoln Houtz, Emmett and Kelsey Sobeski, Max and Luke Sobeski, Skyler and Mike Blesch, nephew Barry Fowler, nieces Susan (Rod) Force and Linda (Kirk) Miller, and several great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the love of his life of 36 years Dorothy and his brother and sister-in-law, Donald & Eleanor.
The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Jim’s memory consider the Bronson Area Fire Association or the Bronson Community Foundation.
The family would like to thank the staff at Lakehouse of Coldwater for the care they gave Jim while he lived there.
