Robert Kenneth “Kit” Scott, 49, passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025.
A celebration of Kit’s life will be announced at a later date.
Kit lived his life at full throttle, never slowing down for anything or anyone. Whether he was tearing through the trails on a side-by-side, racing a sprint car, or riding motocross, he found his greatest joy in anything fast and adrenaline-filled.
A true enthusiast of the Upper Peninsula, he felt most at home in the great outdoors, where the trails stretched as far as his ambition.
Kit is survived by his mother, Kandaus Scott (Coldwater, MI); his sisters, Lori Malone (Sherwood, MI) and Sally Scott (Coldwater, MI); his uncles, Michael Scott (Cincinnati, OH) and Michael Sweet (Coldwater, MI); and his cousins, Tracy Sweet (Coldwater, MI) and Trevor Sweet (Okemos, MI). Kit also leaves behind countless close friends and his significant other Sue Mahnke (Angola)
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Scott; his brother, Richard Scott; his stepfather, Gary Wiley; his grandmother, Arlene Sweet; and his grandfather, Robert Sweet.
Kit was a man of many talents—he could fix anything, operate the biggest machines, and ran his businesses with the same determination that fueled his passion for speed. As the co-owner of AAA Storage, Cross Roads Storage, and Liberty Propane, he built a life rooted in hard work and dedication.
More than his skills, Kit was known for his unwavering generosity. He’d give the shirt off his back to a neighbor in need and was a trusted friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him. A true character, there was never a day he didn’t have a hat on his head, a Mountain Dew in his hand, and a pack of Camel cigarettes close by.
Kit lived life at 100 mph, leaving behind a legacy of adventure, hard work, and friendship. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
