Suzanne “Suzie” Leister, 86, passed away Friday, February 28, 2025 at Hubbard Hill Assisted Living in Elkhart, IN.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson. A rosary will take place at 7:00 p.m. following the visitation.
Suzie was born June 29, 1938, in South Bend, IN to Vincent and Julia (Casserly) Fox. She later met and married Thomas Leister September 28, 1958 in South Bend.
Suzie spent many years taking care of her family as a homemaker. She later worked as an Attendance Secretary for Bronson High School.
Suzie was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Bronson, very involved in the Knights of Columbus, and the National Wild Turkey Federation. She loved to travel many places, one of her favorite places to go was Ireland. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, sewing, and taking care of others. Suzie loved to spend time with her family, she was always very welcoming, even fighting a long battle with dementia; Suzie remained very positive and loving.
Suzie is survived by her son Scott (Gail) Leister; her sister Joann Ollman; her grandchildren Sean Leister; Erin Brown; Andrew Leister; Katie Hamilton; Maggie Bell; her great-grandchildren Darby Brown; Esmae Brown; Autumn Brown; William Leister and Annie Leister.
Suzie is preceded in death her parents; her husband Thomas Leister; her children Gregory Leister; Tammy Merfeld; her brother David Fox and her brother-in-law Jerry Ollman.
