COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City of Coldwater’s Memorial Day activities which are annually sponsored by the Coldwater American Legion Post were formally approved by the Coldwater City Council on Monday night.
Former Mayor Jerry Ford and Autumn Billman are organizing the events which will start at a later time this year.
In the past, the downtown ceremony at the Four Corners Park would begin at 8:30 a.m. on the morning of Memorial Day but City Manager Keith Baker said Monday night this year’s ceremony will start 90 minutes later.
In the past, services were held in the north and south sections of Oak Grove Cemetery. Those services have been consolidated into one which will be held in the south section at 11:00 a.m..
During the downtown ceremonies and the parade, Marshall Street between U.S. 12 and Church and U.S. 12 between the Four Corners Park and Clay will be closed temporarily to traffic.
A lunch will be served at the American Legion Hall following the ceremonies at 12:00 noon.
