COLDWATER,MI (WTVB)- When the Coldwater City Council meets on Monday night, they are expected to approve a bid for the N. Clay Street utility and road improvement project. Bids were received and publicly opened at the April 10th meeting, with Nashville Construction Company providing the low bid of $1,427,152.45. The project includes improvements to the City’s storm water, water, wastewater, road and sidewalk infrastructure.
Nashville Construction is an MDOT preapproved contractor and received a positive recommendation from the City of Marshall in regard to past road and utility work. The Nashville Construction bid was $75,556.60 lower than the one other bid received from Fishbeck Engineering a difference of 5.3%. The City does have a local preference provision in its purchasing policy if a local bidder falls within 5% of the low bid but the City’s engineering consultant and City staff say they have no reason not to recommend the low bidder in this case.
