WASHINGTON DC, (WTVB)- President Trump’s “big beautiful bill” has passed the House. Early this morning, lawmakers approved the massive spending plan 215 to 214 with all Democrats and two Republicans voting against it.
Michigan 5th district congressman Tim Walberg voted in favor of the bill
The bill, if it becomes law, would make big cuts to Medicaid with an estimated seven-point-six million Americans losing health insurance over the next ten years. It would also add new requirements to food assistance, eliminate taxes on tips, while putting billions toward fighting illegal immigration and a nationwide missile defense system.
The bill now goes to the Senate, where lawmakers have already promised to make changes.
Michigan’s 5th district includes Branch, St Joseph, Hillsdale and part of Calhoun Counties.
