Constance A. “Connie” Rurka, 86, of Coldwater passed away peacefully June 11, 2025 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater surrounded by her children.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at 10:30 a.m.at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson, with Rev. Fr. George Siby officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 16, 2025 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m..
Connie was born November 25, 1938 to Omar J. and Leone H. (Jordan) Mettler in Fort Wayne, IN. She married Bernard E. Rurka August 30, 1958.
Connie spent many years working as the Food Service Director for both the Coldwater and Colon Community Schools.
Connie attended both St. Charles Borromeo and St. Mary of Assumption churches. She was a member of the Branch County Historical Society, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Coldwater Hospital Auxiliary.
In her free time Connie enjoyed crafts, gardening, and sports, especially scorekeeping for her husband, or watching her grandchildren play. She was the most outgoing and helpful person to everyone.
She had a well-known sweet tooth; chocolate was her favorite. Connie loved nothing more than spending time with her family, taking any chance to see her grandchildren that she could.
Connie is survived by her children Rhonda Rider; Laura Rurka; Richard (Karen) Rurka; Karen (Joseph) Hughes; her grandchildren Lucas (Erin) Rider; Jordan (Kellie) Rider; Zackeriah Rurka; Eric Rurka; Nicole Morrison; Michelle (Andrew) Leskow, Anthony (Nisha) Rurka, Deven Blanchard; Sarah Hughes; Alliane (Derek) Brennan; Meagan Hughes; her greatgrandchildren Jaden Rurka; Jacob Rurka; Ryker Morrison; Camden Morrison; Emmalynne Rider; Shiroe Rurka; Sadie Brennan; Dalton Brennan; Lillian Knutson; and many other loving family members and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bernard Rurka; and her sisters Mary Lee Mettler; and Irene Cowan.
Memorials may be directed to the Maple Lawn Activities Fund or the Alzheimer’s Association.
