COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board approved the design of a mural of flowers as well as the final design of a sunflower that will be installed on the side of the Children’s Museum of Branch County building on Wednesday morning.
The mural will be painted on the grey western wall of the building which is owned by the D.D.A. at 60 West Chicago. The design of the mural was one of two options submitted.

The D.D.A. Board approved an agreement in April with Rhiannan Sibbald Studio of Grand Rapids who will paint the mural for $18,000 that will be paid in three installments of $6,000 apiece.
The concept of the 21-foot sunflower was approved by the D.D.A. Board and the Historic District Commission in late 2023.
It will be constructed in the southwest corner of the building at a cost of at least $70,000.
Before the sunflower is installed, the Neighborhood Services Department will need to review engineering documents and the Historic District Commission must give its approval to the project.

But we can’t afford basic services like monthly brush pickup.
It would be nice if the local artists could paint something on the traffic controller in front of the building with state approval.
Why spend any money on paint when the SCARY SKELETON is displayed at the front door!!! Sure they put clothes on it but it’s totally rediculous to use it at the front door when it is used to scare people at Halloween! That’s what it’s for, to scare people, especially children!!! I have seen children who have been traumatized with that and some of the other Halloween costumes. Time to make it more children friendly before giving them any more money for anything!
