David Lawrence “Dave” Diamond, 74, of Athens passed away Monday, September 1, 2025 under hospice care at Centrica Rose Arbor Place in Kalamazoo.
In keeping with Dave’s wishes, he will be cremated and a private graveside service will be held at a later date at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, MI.
The family is being served by Lighthouse Funeral & Cremation in Union City.
Dave was born November 1, 1950 to Lawrence and Shirley (Holmes) Diamond in Sturgis, Michigan. He graduated from Union City High School with the Class of 1968.
After high school, Dave proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then worked at TACOM (U.S. Army Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command) in Warren, as an engineer, retiring in 2004.
Dave enjoyed hunting, watching football, baseball, and NASCAR.
Dave is survived by his two daughters, Cassandra (Adam) Nageldinger of Sherwood and Yolanda (Moses) Huerta of Salisbury, NC; his grandchildren, Veronica (Henry Nagel) Diamond, Tyler (Mikaela) Howard, Taylor (Cassidey) Howard, Breanne (Johnny) Hughes, and Alyssa (Austin) Howard-Merritt; his great-grandchildren, Andrea, Elliott, Wesley, Theodore, Julian, and Hayden; and his ten siblings.
In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by five siblings.
The family would also like to share appreciation and a special thank you to all of the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of Bronson Healthcare, Vascular Health Center, Battle Creek Foot & Ankle and Centrica Rose Arbor.
