Alan Holbrook Swain, 95, of Coldwater passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at his home in Coldwater.
In accordance with his wishes cremation has taken place. There will be a service held at a later date.
All arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Alan was born October 31, 1929, in Coldwater to Kenneth and Lois (Ostrom) Swain. Alan Graduated from Coldwater High School in 1947. He proudly served as a member of the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1952.
Alan later met and married Jean Shubel July 1, 1955 in Coldwater and they were married for 65 years. They produced sons Shawn and Gregory Swain.
Alan attended Michigan State University for 2 years, before working for the city of Coldwater in 1956. He retired after 34 years in 1990. He was a city engineer and later the city manager.
After retirement, he served many positions for Coldwater Township.
In his free time, Alan loved to hunt, fish, and camp, taking many trips up north. Alan will be remembered for his free spirit and humor.
Alan is survived by his sons Gregory and Shawn, his sister Alice, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Alan is preceded in death by his wife Jean; his parents; his brother John Swain.
Memorial donations may be directed to the Humane Society of Branch County.
